The latest chapter in the beloved rebooted franchise has swung into theaters, capturing audiences’ attention and commanding the top spot at the box office. “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” the fourth installment in the series, made a resounding entrance this week, raking in an impressive $129 million globally.

Domestically, the film seized the throne with a formidable $56.5 million, while internationally, it amassed $72.5 million, solidifying its reign as a global powerhouse.

Directed by Wes Ball, “Kingdom” transports viewers 300 years into the future, where apes rule over isolated colonies, and humanity has regressed into primal beings. As tensions escalate under the leadership of the formidable ape king, Proximus Caesar, portrayed by Kevin Durand, a young chimp named Noa, played by Owen Teague, embarks on a courageous quest alongside the enigmatic human Nova, portrayed by Freya Allen. Together, they strive to uphold the ideals of peace and unity, challenging the oppressive reign and distorted teachings of Caesar.

Reflecting on his experience, Teague shared, “I would have a few moments free. I brought my dad’s old film camera from 1970, something to set every day with me, and shot eight or nine rolls of film over the course of the production — partially because I like shooting 35 millimeter, and partially because it felt safer than just taking pictures on my phone, as things can be strict with that.”
